Fighting Winter Blues with Denim and Tweed

How often do you set some time aside for family and friends during the weekends?

It is a tough one isn’t it? At least for me it is. For the longest time, Saturdays and Sundays were all about whipping out my ‘to do’ list and ticking the boxes. Whilst there was nothing wrong with that,  many opportunities to form meaningful relationships or bonding sessions with those who are precious to me had actually been replaced as a result.

To be honest, I’ve actually forgotten how good it felt to be able to share the whole of Sunday afternoon with a bunch of friends over delicious food and coffees until yesterday. I felt so alive and refreshed after that! I don’t know about you but to me, the older I’ve become, the more I’ve recognised the value of building good relationships and being nurtured in community where people are supportive of each other. I don’t believe that anyone could ever live fully in complete isolation because humans are designed to complement and help each other, not only during hardships but also to share good times together. In other words, we feed off each other (not the literal sense of course!) and I felt so blessed to be fed!

I’m going to ‘pull a Wendy‘ now (Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook is a master stylist who loves to put together ensembles that are brunch and coffee friendly) by telling you what I wore to brunch yesterday.  The past couple of days had been pretty chilly (by Sydney standards) so I piled on the layers to keep warm. I wasn’t in the mood for a feminine look so I decided to reach for my new favourite pair of jeans from Cheap Monday that I got at a ridiculously good (oxymoron I know) price in Stockholm. I’ve always liked the look of having an open button down shirt underneath a jacket so I decided to experiment on that. I like how the extra layer of denim around the edges of my jacket had managed to make the look a little more interesting. It also served as a security blanket to the loosey loose top that I had on.

I’m also beginning to enjoy my tweed jacket with faux leather sleeves so I think it might make a few more appearances before the weather warms up again!

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead. Till we speak again!

ps: Happy Birthday once again to my papa!

  1. Spending more time with friends and family on weekends is definitely something I want to do more often, instead of just ticking of the chore list 🙂 Loving the pop of blue on your outfit!

  2. There just never seems to be enough time in the day to get everything done AND have a social life. I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way! Sometimes we just have to accept that not everything is going to get done and go out and have some fun. You look excellent by the way. Very well styled 🙂

Jot down your thoughts!
