The best beauty advice I got this autumn/winter season is to use a facial serum before applying the usual moisturiser.

This is a bit of a no brainer but I do like to keep things to a minimal when it comes to my beauty routine. As much as I’m attracted to the bucketloads of cool products out there, I rarely purchase beauty products or makeup just because. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend a couple of hours a day fussing over my appearance!

This year (like all previous years), my skin instantly turned flaky around the mouth area the moment the season changed. Due to my people-facing role, I needed to do something about it because peeled skin isn’t a good look (your mama would also tell you that). I was thinking of just piling on more of the lovely moisturiser that I was using but the nice lady at Kiehl’s told me to add a serum into my routine instead. Now based on previous experiences I just hadn’t trained myself well enough to keep up with an extra step but I was desperate at that stage (once again imagine white flakes on the face)…

I decided to re-introduce my Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil which has been sitting around untouched for months and the rest was history! I’m just really loving the feeling of well-hydrated skin and best of all, a couple of drops of serum goes a long, long way.

What is the one beauty advice that you got that really helped you this season?
