Panic Button

Knowing that our lives are going to change forever has somehow released a panic signal that propelled us to saying yes to every social function.

I don’t think I’ve ever had such a busy social calendar such as the one I have this year. Well in case you’re wondering, I definitely haven’t become more popular or likeable. The main trigger I would say was my pregnancy. Knowing that our lives are going to change forever has somehow released a panic signal that propelled us to saying yes to every social function. Suddenly we were more enthused about trying out new things and gaining new experiences. Isn’t it funny that it takes such a big nudge for us to take action although upping our social lives has been a goal for a long, long time?

Mr M and I went and watch ballet as a couple for the first time a number of weeks ago (yes I’m playing catch up with blogging!) and it really brought back memories of the performances that I participated in as a dancer on stage. I haven’t danced for a long time now and would love to get back into appreciating this form of art because after all, ballet was a part of my life for 12 years.

On another note, do you recognise this black quilted jacket that I was wearing? It’s actually the reversed side of this colourful Gorman one! It’s such a beautifully made jacket and I have been wearing both sides pretty equally (I do prefer the colourful side if I have to choose). I was a bit apprehensive about buying another jacket at the end of winter but after receiving loads of compliments and getting many, many wears out of it, I knew I made the right decision. Sometimes a bit of shopping risk does pay off but even if it doesn’t, there’s no need to be too hard on ourselves as long as it hasn’t negatively impacted on ourselves and others. I understand that it’s a simplistic view but that’s how I see clothes shopping nowadays. Yes I still want to be that thoughtful consumer who invests in quality pieces but I also don’t intend to drive myself crazy if things don’t go according to memo.

Your turn. What are some of the shopping risks you took that paid off?
