I hadn’t purchased anything fashion-related items for 5 weeks due to a shopping ban that I was observing. Not that it’s a big deal, really. I was very pleased with this cold turkey approach as that had also given me the opportunity to utilise my existing wardrobe a bit more but last weekend I started to feel the hit. A part of me felt like I had been left behind in the world of fashion (a bit of exaggeration here is inevitable). The other part was getting tired of coming up with ideas for fresh pairings simply because the motivation to create something new out of something old had started to waver (not going to lie).
I wonder whether my feelings would have been any different if I didn’t feel the “need” to show off my outfits here.
Anyhoo, the lack of inspiration had prompted me to pay homage to the classic white shirt + jeans combo. It must be a blessing in disguise, I found a nice silky shirt that was tucked away for the longest time and guess what, I think I’m starting to fall in love with it…
Have you ever been in a self-imposed shopping ban? How did you cope with it or rather what did you do to make it an enjoyable experience?
