Tropical Maternity Outfit Formula

Comfort is seriously my number one consideration these days especially when carrying extra weight is already an effort in itself.

When I was packing for Malaysia, I was a little bit over 3 months preggers so I stuck to mostly loose fitting dresses to accommodate a steadily growing belly. My waistline had grown a couple of inches wider and I could no longer fit into most of my pants. I did try that very famous pregnancy clothing hack of looping a rubber band around the button and button hole to give an extra few inches of leeway but I found that method a bit uncomfortable, unflattering and clunky. I mean I wasn’t only getting bigger at the waist, my hips were getting wider as well (to my non-suprise) so really, normal pants were just not ideal. More over having to constantly pull your top down to conceal the ‘secret rubber band ‘ isn’t going to be much fun at all.

I did however take my ultra voluminous Bassike shorts with me (see this as well) and that was when I truly learnt to appreciate a good elasticated waistband. Not only were those babies highly accommodating to my physical changes, they were so comfy to be in and I didn’t feel a single bit self-conscious in them. I paired it mostly with equally voluminous tops for similar reasons (wider shoulders and chest) and honestly, that could be my pregnancy outfit formula (alongside the dresses) if we were to live in a tropical climate. Comfort is seriously my number one consideration these days especially when carrying extra weight is already an effort in itself.

What about you? What is your hot weather maternity (shock horror but a very real word) outfit formula that you swear by?
